\/><\/p>\n<p>University of Kent is the first British University to twin its sports pitches with Flanders Peace Field, Mesen, Belgium, site of the 1914 First World War Christmas Truces.<\/p>\n<p>Gateways to the First World War is a centre for public engagement with the First World War centenary funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC). The aim of the Gateways team is to encourage and support public interest in the centenary of the First World War through a range of events and activities such as open days and study days, advice on access to materials and expertise, and signposting for other resources and forms of support. The Centre is managed by the University of Kent in partnership with the Universities of Essex, Portsmouth and Leeds.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gatewaysfww.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"attachment noopener wp-att-3365\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-3365\" src=\"http:\/\/www.childrensfootballalliance.com\/football-and-peace\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Gateways-logo-standard-300x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.childrensfootballalliance.com\/football-and-peace\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Gateways-logo-standard-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/www.childrensfootballalliance.com\/football-and-peace\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Gateways-logo-standard-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/www.childrensfootballalliance.com\/football-and-peace\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Gateways-logo-standard.png 668w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The official twinning ceremony will be facilitated by the University of Kent&#8217;s Sports Department.<\/p>\n<p>Sport and recreation is a hugely important part of University life at Kent and Kent Sport works hard to provide something for everyone, whether you&#8217;re an elite sportsman\/woman or just want to try new activities, lead a healthier lifestyle or meet new people.
