{"id":2104,"date":"2016-05-14T15:02:15","date_gmt":"2016-05-14T15:02:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.childrensfootballalliance.com\/football-and-peace\/?p=2104"},"modified":"2016-05-14T15:02:15","modified_gmt":"2016-05-14T15:02:15","slug":"indias-first-peace-field","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.childrensfootballalliance.com\/football-and-peace\/news\/indias-first-peace-field\/","title":{"rendered":"India&#8217;s First Peace Field"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong style=\"font-size: 14.6666669845581px; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\">The First International Children&#8217;s Football Alliance (ICFA), Peace Pitch, Nagpur, India.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/1-MdLLaCLFw\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong style=\"font-size: 14.6666669845581px; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\">Slum Soccer\u00a0<\/strong><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14.6666669845581px;\">celebrated the twinning their Academy football pitch with <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.peacevillage.be\/en\" target=\"_blank\">Flanders Peace Field and The Peace Village<\/a><\/strong>, Messine, Belgium, site of the 1914 First World War Christmas Truces. \u00a0 The Peace Field plaque (sponsored by <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.joneslanglasalle.co.in\/india\/en-gb\" target=\"_blank\">Jones Lang Lasalle<\/a>, JLL<\/strong>)<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>was presented to V&#8217;jay Barse the founder of Slum Soccer by Ernie Brennan, Managing Director of the National Children&#8217;s Football Alliance.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.childrensfootballalliance.com\/pfp-ceremonyw300_h169\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3991\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-3991\" src=\"http:\/\/www.childrensfootballalliance.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/PFP-ceremonyw300_h169-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"PFP ceremonyw300_h169\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The event facilitated a series of football games for boys and girls. \u00a0The special guests were students from Frankfurt University who were on a study trip in India;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8216;It was an honor to take part in the twinning ceremony. We are here to observe how non government organisations work in the third sector. Observing how the National Children&#8217;s Football Alliance (NCFA) UK work together with Slum Soccer has been a fascinating and inspiring experience which all my students will benefit from&#8217;. \u00a0<strong>Prof. Dr. Alexandra Caspari.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8216;This is a very important part of Slum Soccer to have a peace pitch that promotes play to young and old people. The connection with the First World War&#8217;s, 1914, Christmas Truces and India, is a valuable historical and modern day learning tool. \u00a0We will promote peace through play and continue to work with our partners to ensure all children benefit from football&#8217;. <strong>Dr V&#8217;jay Barse, Slum Soccer.<\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3998\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.childrensfootballalliance.com\/icfa-peace-pitch\/vjbarse-signing-pfp-declarationw300_h169\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3998\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3998\" class=\"wp-image-3998 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/www.childrensfootballalliance.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/VJBarse-signing-PFP-DeclarationW300_H169-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"VJBarse signing PFP DeclarationW300_H169\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-3998\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dr V&#8217;Jay Barse signs the Peace Field Declaration.<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8216;This is a great idea and I think all the Slum Soccer players, coaches and parents, will understand that we coach football to everyone but we also teach good values that promote peace&#8217;. \u00a0<strong>Homkant Surandase, Slum Soccer, Head Coach<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There is a lot to gain from twinning a football pitch with Flanders Peace Field. \u00a0The universal message of peace lends itself to sportsmanship, equality, humanitarianism and citizenship. \u00a0Coaches use the 1914 Christmas Truces&#8217; football match as a valuable learning tool in terms of community cohesion.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/slumsoccer.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Slum Soccer<\/a><\/strong> will use the Peace Pitch to bring people together. The educational aspect of the Peace Pitch draws on a cross-curricular programme incorporating history, literature, cultural diversity and peace making. \u00a0It is hoped that the Peace Pitch will facilitate all-inclusive peace tournaments and bring together further funding opportunities for local, regional and National companies to help support the good work of Slum Soccer and all their children.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The First International Children&#8217;s Football Alliance (ICFA), Peace Pitch, Nagpur, India.
