{"id":4209,"date":"2020-07-23T15:50:48","date_gmt":"2020-07-23T15:50:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.childrensfootballalliance.com\/football-and-peace\/?p=4209"},"modified":"2020-07-23T15:50:50","modified_gmt":"2020-07-23T15:50:50","slug":"twin-with-flanders","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.childrensfootballalliance.com\/football-and-peace\/uncategorized\/twin-with-flanders\/","title":{"rendered":"TWIN WITH FLANDERS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>DESIGNATED AREAS OF PLAY <\/strong><strong>TWINNED WITH&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>FLANDERS PEACE FIELD<\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.childrensfootballalliance.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Christmas-Truce-Cross_1000.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.childrensfootballalliance.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Christmas-Truce-Cross_1000-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Christmas Truce Cross_1000\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">National Children&#8217;s Football Alliance and the&nbsp;<a title=\"Peace Village\" href=\"http:\/\/www.peacevillage.be\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Peace Village<\/a>, Mesen, Belgium, are commemorating WW1 and celebrating peace through the 1914 Christmas Truces by offering schools, clubs, groups and public play areas with the opportunity to twin a designated area of play with Flanders Peace Fields, site of the Christmas Truces. &nbsp;This is open to all schools, clubs, groups and public play areas around the world.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This unique offer will directly link your area of play with one of the most famous fields in world history. &nbsp;Flanders Peace Field lends itself to education in a way that brings cultures, young and old together.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the week leading up to Christmas 1914 groups of German, British and allied soldiers stopped fighting to sing festive songs. Some on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day ventured in to \u201cNo man\u2019s land\u201d to exchange gifts and to play games of football.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Today the truces are remembered as a symbolic moment of peace and humanity. An action taken by soldiers caught up in the conflict that was The First World War. Arguably, the horrors of war made men turn to a form of childhood to play a game of football to momentarily forget their tragic situation. &nbsp;It was a humanitarian act through the essence of play that every adult remembers in their childhood.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.childrensfootballalliance.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/NCFA-SEGfL-flyer-pic-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.childrensfootballalliance.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/NCFA-SEGfL-flyer-pic-1.jpg\" alt=\"NCFA SEGfL flyer pic 1\" width=\"919\" height=\"201\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h1 align=\"center\">Declaration of Peace<\/h1>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The NCFA are providing schools, clubs, groups and public areas of play,<b> <\/b>the opportunity to twin their designated areas of play with the Flanders Peace Field.
