By Charlotte Evans"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Many people know that the Christmas Truce happened in 1914 (The football match between the German soldiers and the British soldiers on Christmas Day 1914), but many other things happened around this festive time in the trenches.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_492\" style=\"width: 268px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.childrensfootballalliance.com\/football-and-peace\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/WW1-xx.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-492\" class=\"size-full wp-image-492\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.childrensfootballalliance.com\/football-and-peace\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/WW1-xx.jpg\" width=\"258\" height=\"195\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-492\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Some WW1 Soldiers<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The Germans began by placing candles on their trenches and on Christmas trees, then continued the celebration by singing Christmas carols. The English responded by singing carols of their own. The two sides continued by shouting Christmas greetings to each other.
