Some on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day ventured in to \u201cNo man\u2019s land\u201d to exchange gifts and to play games of football.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Today the truce is remembered as a symbolic moment of peace and humanity. An action taken by soldiers caught up in the conflict that was The First World War. \u00a0Arguably, the horrors of war made men turn to a form of childhood to play a game of football to momentarily forget their tragic situation. \u00a0It was a\u00a0humanitarian act that every child and adult needs to engage in together.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.childrensfootballalliance.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/NCFA-SEGfL-flyer-pic-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"NCFA SEGfL flyer pic 1\" src=\"http:\/\/www.childrensfootballalliance.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/NCFA-SEGfL-flyer-pic-1.jpg\" width=\"919\" height=\"201\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Hosted by\u00a0<a title=\"South East Grid for Learning\" href=\"http:\/\/www.segfl.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">South East Grid for Learning<\/a>\u00a0&amp; National Children\u2019s Football Alliance<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0<strong>Kent &amp; Medway Schools\u2019 1914 Christmas Truce Project<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Kent Schools\u2019 1914 Christmas Truce will take place across Kent &amp; Medway during the week of the 24th\u00a0\u2013 28th\u00a0November 2014. It is an opportunity for schools and their pupils to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Research and find out if soldiers from their local area took part in this special event<\/li>\n<li>Plan a 1914 Christmas Truce Assembly<\/li>\n<li>Write and publish poems, postcards and Christmas Greeting cards like the soldiers in the trenches did in 1914<\/li>\n<li>Design and create 2 and 3D Artwork to depict life in the Trenches<\/li>\n<li>Dedicate a part of your school grounds as a \u201cPeace Field\u201d in memory of the events of 1914<\/li>\n<li>Participate in friendly sports games with other schools<\/li>\n<li>Participate in on-line question and answer sessions with local historians about the symbolic importance today of The 1914 Christmas Truce<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.childrensfootballalliance.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Christmas_Truce_German_Soldiers_500.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"A Game for Christmas\" src=\"http:\/\/www.childrensfootballalliance.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Christmas_Truce_German_Soldiers_500-300x193.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"193\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>How can my school take part?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Schools can opt to take part in some or all the cross-curricular activities designed for Key Stages 1 and 2 pupils.
