NORTHERN IRELAND LEGEND SUPPORTS LIMESTONE UNITED

Northern Ireland (NI) legend Keith Gillespie joined Limestone United, Belfast, to wish them good luck in their Peace Field Project and representing Northern Ireland at the 2024 Global Peace Games (GPGs).

Through the CFA’s Football Makes Our Shared History Project (FMOSH), Limestone United successfully twinned their peace pitch with Flanders Peace Field, Mesen, Belgium, site of the First World War, 1914, Christmas truces.

LUFC’s FMOSH project led to an invitation to represent NI at the 2024 GPGs. Their application was considered by the CFA to be a success. ‘Limestone United illustrate perfectly how a peace pitch can be used to educate, promote and celebrate peace‘, Claire Mole. CFA, Partnerships Officer.
